About

Courtney (she/hers) is a freelance Costume Designer and Wardrobe Technician. She earned her MFA in Theatre (Costume Design and Technology) from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and her BA from Northern Michigan University in Theatre, French, and English. She also carries a Michigan Professional Teaching Certificate for Secondary Education as well as educator licenses in California and Maryland.

Courtney is currently an Adjunct Instructor and Resident Costume Designer at Saginaw Valley State University.

As a white, cis, lesbian, she seeks out projects with an emphasis on family structures, 2SLGBTQIA+, women's stories, and environmental focus. Courtney enjoys the challenges of designing for new works and up-cycling.

For over fifteen years, she has worked in a variety of venues including university theatre, tours, Off-Broadway, Equity houses, theme parks, regional and community arts centers, and high school drama programs across the country including NYC, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Nebraska, and Maine.

Courtney currently lives in Michigan with her wife, Mary, their small dog and silly cat. She spent the quarantine hiatus focusing on online teaching, brushing up on French, and learning how to cook new dishes.

"She consistently goes above and beyond in the classroom as well as the work place.  This is one characteristic that sets her apart."
